Easy Money (1983)
Director: Jim Signorelli
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The tale of an all-American slobbo (Dangerfield) who spends his days photographing overweight babies and nights swilling beer, guzzling pizza, gambling, doping and generally whooping it up with his 'regular guy' buddies. When his mother-in-law (cue 1001 ancient jokes) leaves him a fortune, it's with the proviso that he gives up these little pleasures for a whole year. If one fails to give a toss for his ensuing sufferings, it's largely because he is a character so repellent he makes Alf Garnett look like a Salvatian Army sergeant. The fact that it took four writers (among them National Lampoon's PJ O'Rourke) to concoct this pile of doggy-doo riddled with sexism and racism doesn't make it any funnier than woodworm in a cripple's crutch.Author: FL
