From Time Out Film Guide

Reasonably enjoyable suspenser in the post-Aldrich manner. Geraldine Page - almost two decades before her Oscar for The Trip to Bountiful - is the impoverished Arizona widow who's gotten through a succession of housekeepers by nobbling them for their savings. But she meets her match in Ruth Gordon, the post's latest incumbent, a lady of natural curiosity and great strength of character. The oldsters clearly relish their roles, even if you can see the plot coming from miles off.
