The Diaries of Vaslav Nijinsky (2002)
Director: Paul Cox
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Very much a labour of love, Cox explores Nijinsky's art, thoughts and life by juxtaposing excerpts from his diaries (read by Derek Jacobi) with archive footage, shots of people prancing about, and more lyrical takes of the natural landscape. There are some luscious images here, but it's otherwise pretty turgid stuff, low on momentum, high on pretension - Nijinsky's as much as Cox's - and rather too fey for its own good.Author: GA
