Dr Ehrlich's Magic Bullet (1940)
Director: William Dieterle
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Misleadingly titled biopic of a doctor (Robinson) whose dedication to research brings him into conflict with the staid late-19th century German hospital in which he works. His subsequent discovery of a cure for syphilis vindicates his methods and earns him a wealthy patron. The screenplay - by John Huston (shortly to begin directing), Heinz Harald and Norman Burnside - earned a deserved Oscar nomination.Author: NF
