An exquisitely photographed, excessively 'choreographed' picture-book study of the impact, on three initially gilded youths (Jew, radical and staunch patriot) of Yugoslavia's fascist occupation. It progresses at a self-indulgent pace from idyll to nightmare - indeed, to scenes of unwatchably sadistic repression.
