The Other Side of Sunday (1996)
Director: Berit Nesheim
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Rural Norway, 1959: Maria (Theisen), eldest of three children born to a stern parson, finds there's little of God's love in either her own life or the town's conformist Christian ethos; everything remotely pleasurable - lipstick, cafés, rock'n'roll, boys - is out of bounds. Only the verger, Mrs Tunheim, seems to share Maria's frustration and love of nature. Slight, but well-observed and ably performed.Author: GA
