From Time Out Film Guide

Despite its attention-grabbing opening and intriguing central conceit - a psychic 'detective' capable of entering the minds of serial killers - this erratic thriller never lives up to its initial promise. Egged on by her manager (Hutton), successful author and media celebrity Cayce Bridges (Sheedy) teams up with a pair of sceptical LA detectives to track down a ruthless murderer. She soon realises, however, that the Shadow Man (Vince) has tuned into her psychic wavelength and is drawing her into his sick scenario, not only by forcing her to see through his eyes but by sending her telepathic messages. One or two scenes do achieve a genuine frisson. But a poorly integrated romance with a hunky neighbour (O'Keefe) serves only to introduce tedious red herrings, and eventually the unsettling switchback logic of the early scenes gives way to the cheap thrills of a fairground finale.
