Final Destination 2 (2003)
Director: David R Ellis
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Part One concerned a group of teens who cheated death by failing to board a doomed aeroplane, only to perish one by one in freak accidents. The muddled sequel wastes no time in lining up fresh fodder, with heroine Kimberly (Cook) having a gut churning premonition that allows her to save a motley group from a freeway pile-up. While the first film tussled half-heartedly with its sobering metaphysical implications, here the emphasis is on increasing the luridness of the set piece death scenes. These are elevated into black comic vignettes, where the fun comes from trying to guess which of the ludicrously over-determined potential hazards will deliver the gory coup de grĂ¢ce.Author: ARi
