Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943)
Director: Roy William Neill
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The first of Universal's frantic attempts to halt falling box-office receipts by doubling up on its monsters, with Chaney's despairing Wolf Man coming to consult Dr Frankenstein in the hope of finding cure or release. The good doctor is dead, but another overweening scientist (Knowles) is on hand to be tempted to revive the monster, found frozen in ice, for a last-reel showdown with the Wolf Man in which both are swept away when the villagers blow up a dam. Fast-paced and quite atmospheric in its tacky way, but definitively sabotaged by Lugosi as the monster; at last getting to play the role he missed out on in 193l, he gives a performance of excruciatingly embarrassing inadequacy.Author: TM
