Friday (1995)
Director: F Gary Gray
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
'It's Friday - let's get high!' pretty much sums up this so-so 'hood comedy. Craig (Ice Cube, motionless) is a soft-natured teen who still resides with his parents. His best buddy is quick-talking Smokey (Tucker, OTT), a drug-dealing dope-fiend with a cash-loan problem. What action there is rarely shifts beyond the parents' porch. Director Gray tries (unsuccessfully) to create a '90s Cheech and Chong with inane lavatory humour, manic facial expressions, and plenty of close-ups of a tokin' Smokey. Passé the spliff.Author: DA
