Repeat teaming for Becker and Joseph Wambaugh after The Onion Field, mining the latter's usual preoccupation in an adaptation of his novel about a cop driven to drink by the pressures of his job, but pulling himself together when he is teamed with policewoman Prentiss as his new partner. Sound in most departments and with an excellent cast, but not all that interesting.
