Director: Andy Wachowski, Larry Wachowski
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Chicago: when hood's moll Violet (Tilly) and ex-con Corky (Gershon) size each other up across a corridor, things soon get plenty biblical. They're made up, they've made out, and now Violet wants to make off with Corky and $2m that hubby's laundering for his boss. Lusty lesbian leads, looting lots of lolly! One of the most blatantly calculated, artistically bankrupt Hollywood calling-cards in ages, this by-the-numbers neo-noir has one gimmick - dyke desire - and no ideas. Circumstantial evidence against the Wachowskis points to fraternal band-wagoning, deliberate marketing to both icon-starved lesbian audiences and the dirty-mac brigade, and cynical courting of lascivious media hype.Author: NB
