Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Writer Virginia Kellogg spent time behind bars to research this women-in-prison saga, which won Parker an Oscar nomination as the teenager who's jailed for a crime committed by her man, has his baby while she's inside, and winds up a hard case. Agnes Moorehead's the concerned warden, Emerson the sadistic bull-dyke guard, staples of a genre which started here and has the likes of Prisoner Cell Block H and Bare Behind Bars to answer for.
