Cage of Gold (1950)
Director: Basil Dearden
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Middling Ealing thriller which sees Simmons marrying the caddish Farrar, only to be deserted when he discovers she has no money. Then, when she marries her childhood sweetheart, believing Farrar dead, he returns to blackmail her. It takes far too long to get going, and even during the melodramatic climax, never really convinces. Nicely shot, though, by Douglas Slocombe.Author: GA
