From Time Out Film Guide

Stock Western plot about the laying of railroad lines to forestall raids on the stage-coach carrying gold from the mines, with Scott contracting to build a tunnel through a mountain, and the villainous Massey (mine boss doubling as thief, his hold-ups hallmarked by the champagne suppers he lays out on the scene for his victims) doing his damnedest to stop him. Not exactly distinguished, but very neatly directed, nicely shot in colour, and with a beautifully judged performance from Scott as the foot-loose mining engineer who takes things very much as they come, but who, once laconically committed, stays committed.
