Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Very much the same formula as last time around: high style, low comedy, classy special effects, rap renditions of classical Taoist poetry, and so on. But the huge international success of the first film has given everyone involved new energy and confidence; sheerly as a ride on a ghost train, the sequel beats the original. The array of demonic foes includes the decomposing corpse of a giant, a lord of hell who poses as the Buddha, and a climactic monster from a William Burroughs nightmare. The only real regret is that the irascible Taoist swordsman (played by Wu Ma) doesn't show up until the last reel.
