The Club (1980)
Director: Bruce Beresford
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The Australian cinema in noisy rather than nostalgic mood, indulging a series of lusty bawling bouts (interspersed with Match of the Day views of Aussie rules football and its supporters) in a caustic look at the power struggles threatening to disrupt a Melbourne club. Based on a play by David Williamson (who scripted Don's Party for Beresford), it's all predictable stuff, but vigorously performed.Author: TM
