An updated black remake of The Asphalt Jungle becomes formula cops 'n robbers, with all the ethnocentricity needed to turn on those amused by it (usually whites) and those in need of heroes/self images (generally blacks). Having only a few nice touches (like the robbery in which three of the gang wear grotesque masks of Nixon, Agnew and Johnson), the film is most notable for its array of black asses - perhaps the most exploited outfront on the commercial cinema screen.
