Cromwell (1970)
Director: Ken Hughes
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Turgid history lesson which never quite makes up its mind whether it means to be subtle or spectacular, and eventually compromises on both counts. Fact is considerably fictionalised in order to present Cromwell (loudly played by Harris) as a blameless champion of the underprivileged. The battle scenes are staged vigorously enough, but also play havoc with history.Author: TM

- Posted on Feb 25 2008 16:30 This film isn,t as bad as you might think. The overall view of the history is reasonably accurate for such a blockbuster. The character actors are worth watching but I do agree that Richard Harris is too brooding. Alec Guinness, Morley, Tutin and others are good. Battles good and scenery good as are the scenes in Parliament.
