Gawain and the Green Knight (1973)
Director: Stephen Weeks
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Ye olde Englishe poem, filtered through Mallory, Weeks, and United Artists (who tampered with the director's original cut). It's an only just watchable tale of the Arthurian gallant having a go at the grass-coloured magical being, which never makes it as a serious attempt to film the original text, nor as an out-and-out fantasy. Weeks had another try ten years later, remaking it as Sword of the Valiant, with very little more success.Author:
