Girl (1998)
Director: Jonathan Kahn
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Ostensibly based on a novel by Blake Nelson, this is an unalloyed rip-off of the acclaimed US TV series My So-Called Life, in which straight-A student Claire Danes confided her romantic/hormonal confusions as she swapped her school books for boyfriends. This time it's Swain (Adrian Lyne's admirable Lolita) who falls head over heals for Portland, Oregon grunge rocker Todd Sparrow (Flanery), with plenty of smartsy asides to the audience but nothing new to say.Author: TCh
