Please Don't Eat the Daisies (1960)
Director: Charles Walters
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Urbane, thoroughly frivolous comedy about a drama critic, his wife, their four squabbling sons, and pet sheepdog (adapted by Isobel Lennart from Jean Kerr's best-seller about life with the NY Herald-Tribune's Walter Kerr). There's not much in the way of plot (a slap in the face from an actress he's panned precipitates a family move from New York to the safety of the country), but the interplay between the stars is mildly diverting: Doris Day, prim and fragrant, bustles around the house; Niven smiles and wriggles his tache in his usual louche way. And that's about it. Good performance from the dog.Author: GM
