Pourquoi pas moi? (1998)
Director: Stéphane Giusti
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
This light gay/lesbian comedy follows the escapades of a group middle class youngsters who work at a small publishing house in Barcelona and culminates in a swanky, nerve-wracking 'coming out' party to which the friends' parents are invited. Popstar Johnny Hallyday is typical of the casting. He plays ex-bullfighter El Rubio, whose initially shocked reaction to his daughter's 'revelation' eventually turns into sympathy. In effect, he functions as an index of the film's wish-fulfilling optimism about overcoming prejudice.Author: WH
