The Heroes (1972)
Director: Duccio Tessari
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Badly dubbed and inferior successor to Kelly's Heroes and other such wartime caper movies. A motley assortment of Germans and Allies call an uneasy truce and opt out of the desert conflict in pursuit of £2 million. Steiger does his German accent (which is beginning to pall a bit), Schiaffino shows a lot of leg, and everyone hams outrageously. A few happy coincidences and a lot of doublecrossing keeps a creaky plot going, and the photography helps some, but the relentless jokiness, plus the inevitable problems of co-production, ensure that it ends up being tedious.Author:
