The Hot Chick (2002)
Director: Tom Brady
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
No one planning on seeing a film named The Hot Chick - in which petty thief Clive (Schneider) swaps bodies with valley girl Jessica (McAdams) - wants or needs to be told that its sexual politics are dubious. But the decision of Rob Schneider, the producer, co-writer and star, to play the girl as a 'lisping gay' isn't just offensive, it's also lazy. By not bothering to attempt an impersonation of Jessica, the film's premise - laboriously set up - is undercut almost immediately. Schneider isn't everyone's cup of tea, but the supporting cast bring such misplaced conviction to the script that some may find it hard to resist the film's grubby charms.Author: HKM
