Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Sturges' sequel to his own Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, written by Edward Anhalt and shot in Panavision by Lucien Ballard, is a notable addition to the run of Wyatt Earp movies chiefly for its unexpected bitterness of tone. Garner's lawman leaves the moral high ground to seek hot-blooded revenge for the murder of his brothers by henchmen working for Ryan's Ike Clanton. Classic opening gunfight and first-rate performances from Garner, and from Robards as the tubercular, laconically resigned Doc Holliday. A determinedly old-style Western, made two years before Peckinpah shook things up with The Wild Bunch.
