From Time Out Film Guide

The murder of Rosemarie Nitribitt, callgirl, on which Rolf Thiele based this film was one of those events which stir popular imagination for a long time because they seem to sum up an era. The mixture of provincial pettiness, ruthless money-making, and post-war shabbiness which propelled Rosemarie, her poodles and her white Mercedes to something more poignant than notoriety proved lethal in the end. Thiele's sharply directed film provides a more direct account of the grotty side of the economic miracle than Fassbinder, who was to portray it as belonging to such a remote and giddy past.
