The Main Event (1979)
Director: Howard Zieff
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
This 'romantic screwball comedy/glove story', in which zany Streisand rescues failed boxer O'Neal, is awful - unless you're a devotee of the strident Streisand, who does at least deliver her lines with some punch. The script, however, assumes that the most powerful women are those who can beat men at their own game - a failed cosmetics queen, Streisand sets out to manipulate O'Neal so as to recoup her losses - but would be only too happy to throw in the towel to the right man.Author:
