Miracle in the Rain (1956)
Director: Rudolph Maté
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Weepie in which plain Jane Wyman finds sweet romance with Johnson's wholesomely cheerful Southern soldier, only to have him killed in (WWII) action. Not a patch on Minnelli's The Clock, though much better than one might expect, thanks to a similar concern for humble detail and a nice array of New York locations. But the final 'miracle' - one of scriptwriter Ben Hecht's follies as Wyman is granted spiritual uplift in a vision of her late love - is a tough lump of goo to swallow.Author: TM
