The Miracle of the Bells (1948)
Director: Irving Pichel
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
This over-extended and uncertain satire (adapted by Ben Hecht from a novel by Russell Janey) on fake religiosity has an ill-at-ease Sinatra as the priest persuaded by press agent MacMurray into offering his church for the funeral of late-lamented actress Valli, whose final film is due for imminent release. After three days of bell ringing, however, the girl is restored to life: Miracle or stunt? It's very hard to care.Author: TJ
