My Crazy Life (1993)
Director: Allison Anders
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
With their men dead or in jail, a group of young Hispanic women from Echo Park, Los Angeles, struggle to raise their children, resorting to gangland tactics only to introduce some sense of identity or purpose into their difficult lives. The action revolves round five of these locas each with her own story to tell. Writer/director Anders mixes real gang members with up-and-coming Latin American actresses, but this ploy fails to lend the film authenticity or vitality. The tone seems, to put it kindly, misguidedly romantic. SFra.Author: SFra
