My Man Godfrey (1957)
Director: Henry Koster
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Wretched remake of La Cava's stinging screwball comedy about a scatterbrain socialite who 'collects' one of the Depression's forgotten men and adopts him as her butler. Apart from deficiencies on all other glitzy Ross Hunter fronts, the script tries to update by turning the down-and-out into an illegal immigrant. With the part of an ex-Luftwaffe pilot played by OW Fischer, as originally planned, it just might have worked; with Niven, it's disastrously bland.Author: TM
