Sam Whiskey (1969)
Director: Arnold Laven
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A dim script and flat direction counteract amiably lively performances in this comedy Western, which functions very much as a caper movie in reverse: Reynolds is the gambler leader of a trio of ne'er-do-wells employed by Dickinson to return a mass of gold to the Denver Mint, whence her now dead husband stole it. The plotting is laborious enough to ensure that the audience is always two steps ahead of the characters, but Reynolds - in his first serious attempt to be funny - just about keeps it watchable.Author: GA
