Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

A musical version of Cinderella that looked redundant before even leaving the starting-blocks. Despite all the critical plaudits (a misplaced patriotism?), it's top heavy, over-lavishly mounted, full of unmemorable songs in the Disney vein by Richard and Robert Sherman, and moves at a snail's pace. In a coasting cast, only Annette Crosbie as the harassed Fairy Godmother manages to alleviate the gloom.

Posted on Aug 09 2008 15:42 This is a relly good movie. I've watched it since i was tiny and it is a really feel good film. It does not deserve the bad reviews it got. I have watched it so much i know all the words. Richard Chamberlain is wonderfulas the Prince Charming, couldn't imagine anyone else playing the Prince. Eveyone has really good voices, and the music is so good!
Definately one of my favourite films of all time!!!

Posted on Jun 12 2008 05:00 I love this film, my mum introduced me to it when I was little and it's the ultimate feel good film - I am practically word perfect I've watched it so often and all my friends who I've introduced to it have loved it as well! When ever I'm feeling down I put this on and I know that I will without fail feel better when it ends. What more can you ask from a film.

Posted on May 11 2008 19:26 This film is highly under-rated, and has received a lot of snide comments from people who look down their noses at good old-fashioned Broadway style performances and music. I loved the film, and have shown it to my daughter and their friends, and they have compared it favorably to other Cinderella stories, including "Ever After" and "Enchanted." I love many of the songs...Gemma Craven is a Julie Andrews-esque musical delight, and Richard Chamberlain's singing and musical acting were a revelation. The comic supporting actors...especially Edith Evans, Julian Orchard, and Michael Hordern as the King...were hysterically funny! True, it unfolds slowly, but with affection and skill.

Posted on Feb 22 2008 12:16 I think that the slipper and the rose is a fantastic film and the songs are catchy.Richard Chamberlain is really sweet as the prince and so iis cinderella. The costumes are rich and show a lot of taste. If you have nothing good to say about it why say any thing at all! Most of all it was defenitly NOT SLOW MOVING.All in all a wonderful hidden jem!
