Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

A low-key tale, funded by Granada TV, of a woman's struggle to rebuild her life after husband Steve, a mechanic, is brain-damaged in a motorcycle accident. Alison (Horrocks) has to fight for compensation and fend off over-protective parents, but she also has to stop Steve (Stevenson) initiating food fights with the young son whose mental age he now shares. Before long, she's considering what she wants. Not without clichés, but the performances are unfussy and a Kay Mellor's screenplay avoids 'issue drama' dreariness.
