The Star (1952)
Director: Stuart Heisler
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A couple of years on from All About Eve, Bette Davis plays an Oscar-winning actress coming to the realisation that her fading career is at an end. Hayden's the ordinary Joe who tries to get her a new start outside the movie industry in this intriguing, though small-scale drama dominated by a ripe star presence. Davis sometimes overdoes the drink-fuelled self-pity, but at least she got another Oscar nomination out of it.Author: TJ
