From Time Out Film Guide

Comedy quintet Broken Lizard play five prank-obsessed Vermont highway patrolmen whose laboured attempts to best and befuddle anybody speeding on their patch, from stoner teens to superior local cops, go awry when drugs and murder disturb their harmless fun. The team would probably like to be known as an 'American Monty Python', but beyond their number, and a shared nod to the reptilian, there ain't much comparison. They're more like a shallow homage to National Lampoon. To its credit, the film reins back on the penis obsession of fratboy films, and goes instead for a gentler, dopier kind of gag. That doesn't make it any funnier, just less irritating. Inconsequential stuff, but at least it gives old-timers Cox and Von Bargen an excuse to sock the shit out of each other.
