I'm Not Scared (2002)
Director: Gabriele Salvatores
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Summer in Southern Italy. A boy discovers a cave, and in the cave a foot - which moves. A child is being held by kidnappers. The boy befriends him, but hesistates to act. This adaptation of a novel by co-writer Ammaniti lays on the atmosphere, and the director is clearly influenced by Gothic fairy tales and child's eye reveries like Night of the Hunter and To Kill a Mockingbird. It's a stylish suffusion of innocence and dread, though not as suspenseful as it should be. Miramax snatched up international distribution rights, and it's easy to imagine a US remake down the line, directed by M Night Shyamalan, perhaps.Author: TCh
