I Will Survive (1999)
Director: Alfonso Albacete, David Menkes
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Emma Suárez, familiar to Julio Medem fans from Vacas, The Red Squirrel and Tierra, plays Marga, a young woman with a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time - most tragically when the father of her unborn baby dies in a car accident. At least she has her friends - most of them gay men, as it happens. Pitched somewhere between wistful romantic comedy and melodrama, this has something in common with Nicholas Hytner's 'Dad to be Gay' movie The Object of My Affection. Unfortunately, as in that case, potentially absorbing material is neutered by a domesticated, sitcom sense of cinema. Suárez is a honey, though.Author: TCh
