From Time Out Film Guide

When Michael Williams (Cage) drifts into the hick town of Red Rock, he's surprised when bar-owner Wayne Brown (Walsh) assumes he's a hitman and hands over five grand as down payment on killing his wife Suzanne (Boyle). Having told Suzanne about the contract, Williams accepts $10,000 from her to kill Brown. Free to skedaddle, he thinks he's struck lucky. But fate steps in when he runs over a man, takes him back to hospital and finds that sheriff Brown wants to nail him. And that's just the first 20 minutes of this well-played, highly entertaining and playfully ingenious thriller.
