Réjeanne Padovani (1973)
Director: Denys Arcand
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Municipal corruption vaguely echoing Hands Over the City led some critics to align Arcand's second feature with the political dossiers of Francesco Rosi. In fact, Arcand uses a more detached, observational style, rooted in the documentary background he shares with better-known Quebecois directors like Perrault and Brault, and his finely-nuanced portrait of capitalist conspiracy is strained only by some belated, over-wrought melodrama. By which time you'll believe anything, anyway.Author: PT
