Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978)
Director: Blake Edwards
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The best things about the previous two Clouseau movies were brilliantly orchestrated set pieces of Clouseau's mechanical incompetence, and Herbert Lom's psychotic Chief Inspector Dreyfus. In this, the sixth in the series, Edwards forsakes these two strengths almost completely in favour of a flurry of lame racial jokes (inscrutable Chinese, Italian mafiosi, that outrageous French accent), and a plot which has Clouseau involved with the French connection, resorting to a string of strictly one-joke disguises. The part of the Chinese manservant Cato (Kwouk) is built up to little effect, and Dyan Cannon is mostly wasted. The laughs come, but they're pretty hollow.Author: RM
