Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Aged 61, gallantly described as a young lady and supposedly capturing the heart of a noticeably bored Jules Berry, the fabled Mistinguett delivers all her close-up lines gazing soulfully skywards (presumably it helped to keep the dewlaps from sagging). Fleeing from a shady past in Dakar, she becomes a star in Paris, finding time to croon to her boarded-out child along the way. Gracelessly tedious, but there is one nice thing about the film : it was solemnly banned during the WWII Occupation because the Germans thought the title (actually the name of Mistinguett's character) was making fun of 'les Boches'.
