'Freely' adapted from Javier Marias' acclaimed novel, this mystery-cum-psychological drama, about the return of a veteran non-conformist professor (Franklyn) to Oxford after a decade away, and the effect of this on a don (Cross) and his sister (Underwood), is so stilted, clumsy and dramatically tedious as to be virtually unwatchable. Celluloid Oxbridge at its very worst.
