The Jungle Book 2 (2003)
Director: Steve Trenbirth
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Picking up on life in the man village where we left Mowgli some 36 years ago, this belated animated sequel finds him pining for that jungle rhythm - and especially his old pal Baloo the bear. Of course the lad can't resist the call of the wild. But who will track him down first, coy Shanti and her kid brother, or Shere Khan the tiger? This isn't so bad in a 'been there done that' sort of way. Disney have reproduced the flat, two-dimensional look of the original, retained the beat score (along with a couple of forgettable new songs), and followed through on the slight storyline with something equally skimpy. What lifted the first Jungle Book was the voice talent. Here, Haley Joel Osment takes over as Mowgli, while John Goodman does the honours as Baloo.Author: TCh
