Anne of the Indies (1951)
Director: Jacques Tourneur
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Pretty much of a swashbuckling potboiler aside from the switch of having Peters, spirited but not entirely convincing, as the bloodthirsty (but she has her reasons) pirate chief. Not one of Tourneur's better films, although he does give it some of the same colourful bounce as The Flame and the Arrow.Author: TM

- Posted on Nov 28 2007 04:17 I think Jean Peters did a great job on this film. I can not think of another actress at the time in Hollywood that could handle a sword as well as she (not even Maureen O'Hara). I think she comes out a winner, despite the fact that she is gorgeous and Fox didn't allow her to play it as she wanted -"an animal that knows no law but the law of might," Fox wanted a fetching pirate. Peters wanted no make up and some dirt on her cheeckbones. I think this is a classic film and one of the most enjoyable pirate flicks I've seen.
