The Arena (1973)
Director: Steve Carver, Aristide Massaccesi
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
High camp from Roger Corman's New World Pictures, with the ancient Romans setting their women slaves to fight in the arena. Fetishistic costumes and nudity are carefully harnessed to the portrait of a decadent society keeping the mob suppressed by letting them vent their feelings on blood sports. Enjoyable to watch the actresses getting their tongues round lines like 'O Guards! Do you mean to say we have to satisfy their animal lust?'.Author:
