Kidnapped (1971)
Director: Delbert Mann
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Umpteenth adaptation of Stevenson's adventure, set in the last days of the Jacobite rebellion, and you'd have thought they might have gotten it right by now. Instead, sluggish pacing and a meandering plot, that also takes in elements from Catriona, kill off interest early on. Caine's Alan Breck is somewhat softened in Jack Pulman's adaptation, and the ending of the tale revised so that Breck surrenders to the English for the murder of Mungo Campbell. The cast are decent, but not much more. Filmed in Panavision and angled at children.Author: TJ
