The Teacher (1977)
Director: Octavio Cortazar
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Replace rhinos with 'gators and you have Hatari!'s hunting set-pieces inserted into an otherwise worthy account of the struggle to eradicate widespread illiteracy in early '60s Cuba. The Hawks reference can be taken further, since this accomplished tale of a young city student newly arrived to teach peasants in an impoverished swamp region concerns professionalism, self-respect, integration into the community and other motifs beloved by Hawksians.Author: GA
