A forerunner of much '30s craziness: literary editor Douglas discovers that the author of several racy best-sellers is, in fact, small-town girl Irene Dunne, who nobody would suspect of such a thing. Regrettably, the movie dips in the second half, when attention shifts from Douglas's attempts to persuade Dunne to go public, to her efforts to make him stand up to his corrupt politician father.
